How To Repair High Pressure Hose

don’t Replace, Repair!

Unless your operation goes through enough hoses to justify spending thousands on professional crimping equipment this is the best way to salvage broken hoses! And the cherry on top, they are reusable!

What you will need :

2x adjustable wrenches (If you want to by 1 pair in your lifetime, buy Crescent)

cordless angle grinder

cut off wheel

Gates G27100-0606 Hydraulic Coupling (for 3/8″ 1-wire hose)

Gates G27100-0808 Hydraulic Coupling (for 1/2″ 1-wire hose)

How To Repair High Pressure Hose

First, locate the burst hole in your high pressure hose. Use your cordless angle grinder to make a clean cut near the burst hole. If you are repairing both sides, be prepared to make 2 cuts because you always want a freshly cut end when repairing pressure washer hose.

Next, grab a Gates hydraulic coupling, it comes in 2 pieces. Separate them and grab the piece that has the female threads. Begin to evenly screw that

counterclockwise

onto the end of the hose that you are repairing. You are going to want to utilize the adjustable wrench to fully seat the hardware. An extra set of hands or a vise would help but are not necessary.

Grab the other piece of the coupling with the male threads and begin to screw the tapered side into the hose. At this point, you are going to need either 2 adjustable wrenches or a vise and an adjustable wrench. Make sure to fully tighten the hardware down. They should meet flush. Done!

Keep Reusing Them!

These fittings can be reused over and over again. When it’s time to retire your old pressure washing hose, simply unscrew the connector and keep it for future use.
